Does Your Work or Your Business Make Your Heart Sing?

Does Your Home Business Make Your Heart Sing?

Does Your Work/Job Make Your Heart Sing?

I remember taking a class when I was working in the corporate world and the teacher asked us “what makes your heart sing?”.  I thought “what do you mean by that?”.  It didn’t make any sense to me that my heart could sing! 🙄  And even if it could, why would my heart want to sing, I thought it was my throat that sang. 😳

Have You Found Your Purpose In Life?

As the teacher went on, he explained about our purpose or mission in life and when we were doing what we were meant to do “our hearts would sing“.  This meant we would be so happy that our work would become play and our play would become work.  Once you find this in your life, everything else would flow.  I thought….Wow!  You mean work could be fun and we could play all day? 😯   Yes, and that was the mystery which I had to solve as I searched for my purpose in life.  One of the authors who has assisted me throughout the years is Wayne Dyer and he wrote a book called “Ambition To Meaning(click on title for blog post).

My Home Business, My Legacy

When I started my home based network marketing business, I had no clue it would lead me to my purpose in life.  Once I committed to mastering the skills, I found that I really enjoyed it, and that I could make a difference in many people’s lives.  I started my journey on personal growth and became very “awakened” to the possibilities of life.

Is Your Work Your Play?

Do you know what makes your heart sing?  What would you do all day long if you didn’t have to be concerned about money?  What do you do in your “spare time” just for fun? These questions may help lead you to your “ideal career”.  I see many people discovering their passions in social media and taking the leap to “do what they love”!  It’s all so exciting because when you do what you love, you want to do it all the time!  Can you imagine how productive our world is becoming because everyone is “doing what they love” (working) and being productive 24 hours/day. 😛  I love seeing everyone so passionate about what they do and they are finding ways to make a career out of it.  It’s all very cool! 😀

Here’s a video I did on Finding Your Purpose In Your Home Business:

Have you sat down and really asked yourself those “tough” questions?  We’d love to hear what your purpose in life is in the comments below.  What would you do if you had 6 months left to live?  And what would you like to be said at your funeral?

    Hi Kellie,
Isn’t it interesting (and sad) that so many people go through life never knowing what it’s like to do work that makes their heart sing? My thought on this is that at some point along the educational track, that playful spirit of the child is pushed out in favor of “doing things by the book.” Unless we are fortunate to have a teacher or two who encourage us to follow our hearts and keep that childlike wonder about life alive, we will fall into the trap or rut of “life” and never get out. Posts like yours are a great reminder that it IS possible to enjoy our work, to follow our passions, and to live a truly rewarding life!

    Aloha Mary Lou!
So nice to see you again! 🙂 Yes, it is true that many of us do what we think is the right thing verses the right thing for us. It’s so much fun seeing people actually go for their dream with social media and the internet.
Thank you for your kind comments. Much love & aloha 🙂

    Hi Kellie,

Yes it feels so good to do what makes one’s heart sing. I believe that with time we will have more people doing what makes their heart sing. If we can get the buzz going about it and keep it going we can hit more people with the idea of loving what we do.. So many begin and then find out they don’t like what they are doing but don’t feel they can afford to make the change… I walked away from what I thought I wanted to spend the rest of my life doing… and am so happy that I did… Now I am working on getting my kids to do the same! The trick is, I found, allowing yourself to Believe that the thing that makes your heart sing – which in my case actually IS singing! – can really be ‘work’. Ie, can you be paid for something you love so much that it doesn’t Feel like work?

But once you find the ‘sweet spot’, life is magical and, well … goddess-worthy.

    Kellie,
Life is definitely worth living when you discover the one thing that makes your heart sing. Since I’ve found that, everything takes on a different look and feel. Things that used to be stickers are now just part of the game to play while on your journey. The opportunities are endless when you enjoy every part of your life!

    Hi Kellie:
Thanks for asking these thought-provoking questions you raise here. What a shame that many people are never asked these questions in their entire lifetime until it’s too late.
I was like that too at one time – so busy making a living that I forgot to make a life…to stand still and listen to my heart…listen to my children…and instead listen to successful people who are living the life I want. I truly intend as Wayne Dyer vowed to live his life when he said, “Don’t die with the music still in you.”
It’s so inspiring to me and others to see you fulfill your life’s mission: doing what you love and loving what you do.
    In gratitude, Deb
