How Are You Feeling Today?
When you got up this morning, how were you feeling? How are you feeling right now? If you are like me, I never really thought about how I felt because I was so busy “doing” what I thought I had to do everyday. Then one day I realized I wasn’t happy or fulfilled. 😥
Are You Really Happy And Fulfilled?
I don’t think I ever asked myself those questions. Am I really happy and fulfilled with my life? How about you.. are you really happy and fulfilled right now? If you are, Congratulations! If you’re not, I believe you’re like most of us who were just doing what we were taught to do. One day it seems that we “wake up” and realize our life is passing us by and if we don’t make a change, we will not be happy.
Realizing You Can Be Happy and Fulfilled
When I started my home based network marketing business, my mentors told me I could have anything I wanted and I could be very happy. Wow, I don’t think anyone had ever told me I could have anything and be happy too! Then, I said “okay, tell me what I have to do and I’ll do it”. One of the things I was introduced to was personal development, and affirmations. I have never done affirmations and honestly, I didn’t believe they would work. However, I knew that “my plan” was not working for me, so I decided to be 100% teachable. I was willing to do anything my mentors told me to do.
The Mirror Exercise
I started to do affirmations daily, and if you would like to know the details of why affirmations work and how to do them, just click on our previous blog post called “Why Daily Affirmations Are One Of The Crucial Keys To Success“. When I said affirmations to myself like “I am a self-confident winner“, I heard the voice in my head saying “no way, you’re not self confident and you’re certainly not a winner!“. Then I would say “you’re awesome“, and my little voice said “no, you’re not!“. Argh! The little voice in my head was so irritating!! 😡
Acknowledging “The Little Voice”
I soon discovered that everyone has a “little voice” in their head and I was about to meet mine in the mirror! I was taught to do the mirror exercise. I looked in the mirror, deep into my eyes and just listened to the “little voice” in my head. I heard things which were very hurtful and criticizing. Tears started rolling down my face and then I cried, a lot! 😥 She was so critical, “the little voice” in my head, and I didn’t like her very much! I wanted to tell her to “BE QUIET” (well, harsher words actually). Once I heard my own critic, and faced her, I could start affirming what I wanted my “little voice” in my head to say. I was then able to look deep into my own eyes and say positive affirmations over and over.
Here’s a video on “How You Feel Affects Your Success & Happiness”:
Affirmations and Visualizations Really Work
Start writing down statements of who you want to become. What qualities, traits, skills, character, and values you would want to have. These will become your affirmation statements. Start with a statement which is reachable to you. For example, “something wonderful is going to happen to me today“. You’ll become aware that every time you say this, something wonderful happens, and soon you’ll realize that this really works. Then start affirming something else a little more miraculous and then that will manifest too. Soon, affirmations and visualizations will be a part of your daily routine like taking a shower. You’ll notice you are taking action each day and that every action is specifically moving you toward your goals. One day you’ll look up and realize how far you have come. It’s amazing and pretty miraculous! 😆
So, how are you feeling today? Do you do affirmations or visualizations? We’d love to hear your comments below. May we ask you to click the “f share” button at the top of the article, to share on Facebook or “retweet” this on Twitter?

Thanks Kellie for sharing about the mirror and affirmations exercises again. It’s so easy to stop doing them when we listen more to the voices that tell us what we are not. But the more I look into those eyes and keep saying positive affirmations about the person I want to become, not the person now, the more I believe I can truly be that person… I love when you talk about the “happy cycle” ~ how the way we feel affects our thoughts, actions and results… visualizing and feeling those happy emotions repeating over and over again makes me want to do the daily disciplines that keep me in that vortex. I appreciate you for continually reminding us about doing these simple yet powerful exercises. Success is truly an ongoing process of working on oneself.:)

Kellie,
I love this! Affirmations are so important to building your self confidence and silencing that little voice. You’ve not only brought that to light, but you’ve also given such a great way to step through it. This shows that anything is possible, if your desire is high enough. Perfect words!

Aloha Val,
Thank you for your kind comments! I am so happy you enjoyed our post. It makes me smile to see you have gained something from our article. I can tell you that “little voice” is always there, I’m just learned to “catch her”, so she doesn’t affect me too much anymore. LOL! Aloha 🙂

Kellie,
Great post. We create our own reality. We can be anybody we want to be. For me I found if I wake up early and go for a walk and then shower and read a positive motivational book I have an awsome day.
When I over sleep, don’t get my walk and miss out on my reading or motivational audio my day goes lousy.
Take time for yourself in the morning to pick from the right side of the menu.

Hi Kellie,
Love this post. I do believe in affirmations and I have used them often.
But what I love most about your post is that “little voice” inside.. the one that you hate and don’t want to listen to… but can’t seem to keep silent.
I think I need to let my little voice have his say…. so I can feel okay about it and move forward. Thanks for your help!

Great post,
I use affirmations every day, hundred of times a day. When I work out. When I swim, when I run and most importantly just before bed. Those pesky negative thoughts always find there way in my mind if I don’t.
Thanks for that!

Nice to meet you on our blog. Glad you enjoyed our post. Congratulations for doing hundreds of affirmations! Wayne Dyer says we have 60,000 thoughts per day, so those few little voices do slip in don’t they! LOL Thank you for your comments. Aloha 🙂

Hi Kellie,
I agree with Dr. Bob, in that you we need to listen to that ugly, nasty little voice inside. We might not like what it’s saying, but it’s there for a reason. I’m not saying to accept what it’s saying, just to acknowledge it. One big reason for this is that if we try to ignore it, it gets stronger.
You also mention the little voice contradicts your affirmations. This is natural at first, but it’s kind of like water flowing over a rock. If you continue the affirmations, eventually you wear away that resistance.
Have you ever smiled when you’re feeling really down? It’s almost impossible to keep feeling bad with a smile on your face. At first, it feels like a big lie, but then the lie becomes reality.
Great information here, Kellie. Thanks for sharing!

Hi Kellie,
This was my first visit to your blog. LOVED this post. I do a lot of inner critic work with my clients and in my own life. You brought to life those conversations that can hold us back. Affirmations are powerful. Your note on being “100% teachable” inspired me to write something on that topic ~ what an important piece to our personal growth! Looking forward to reading more from you and sharing it with others!

Aloha Kellie,
I was thinking about and thanking about you this morning, as I reflected on some of the most wisest secrets to success that I had the privilege of learning while I was being mentored by you. Forgive me, a year or two later and now those secrets gets put into full force. One of my favorite secrets that you taught me was also the use of time. I realize no wants to keep track of time, because we already know we’re wasting it. Lesson learned..no more time to be wasted. I love keeping track of time and gauges.
I realized I’ve been way too knowledgeable beyond my obedience, and now it’s time to just be obedient! LOL!
I also love the six days of work. This year, that has changed from five days of work to six days of work which makes the seventh day all the more relaxing and deserving. All these fundamentals are now taking root and I’m happy that you have given me your most precious time to take it in…
Much love to you Kellie!

Hi Kellie,
Aloha! I used to live in Hawaii and I was happy to “discover” your website. I agree that we are often running around doing things instead of taking time out to ask if we are happy or fulfilled.
I had a health issue which made me take a look at my life but it doesn’t have to get to this point to be aware of how things are going on in your life.
Now I am healthy, I am more mindful of how I am living my life.

Aloha Kellie,
Thanks for your email and link to this site. Sometimes I forget that I’m responsible of my own live. Afirmations have a huge power and they help us to create our reality.
Somebody told me: “You are a masterpiece of art and you are the Michael Angelo of your own live. David, who you carve it is you yourself”.
All the best in 2012:)

Hey Kellie,
This is a really good piece of advice, those negative thoughts keep popping into our head, so I find it is necessary, every day to feed my mind with the most positives I can find, after i listen to Jim Rohn or Darren Hardy, it gives me strength to know that I Can do Anything I set my mind to do!
Mahalo and much aloha to you for all your help and encouragement.
