Are You Holding On To A False Sense of Security?
In 1995, I decided to learn to be an entrepreneur, and left the “security” of my corporate job. I feel so grateful and blessed today because a few years after I left my job, the entire department I worked for, got downsized! 😯 What I thought was a “safe, secure” job, would have left me looking for another “false sense of security” a few years later. 🙄
The Monkey And The Peanut
Have you heard the story of “The Monkey and the Peanut”? It really demonstrates this phenomenon of a “false sense of security”. Watch as I tell the story in this video…
True Security And Freedom
Jim Rohn says “We get paid for bringing value to the marketplace“, and learning to BEcome an entrepreneur who gets paid on value, is true freedom and true security. It’s not always easy, however, as we walk the “Road Less Traveled“, we truly become valuable to the marketplace. “Success is what you attract by the person you become“ – Jim Rohn

Yes, Kellie I still find myself hanging on to “peanuts” that truly don’t serve me. But as I learn and practice the ways of the entrepreneur and provide value to others, I know this path, though less traveled, is the vehicle that will provide me and my family the time freedom and the financial security that the job will never provide.
Thank you for putting it in a pea-“nut-shell” and reminding us that the security the job promised before are things of the past. This is the age of the entrepreneur…grow or die…<3

Hi Kellie
I’ve never heard that story about the peanut but it definitely opened my eyes up to some things that I have not been willing to let go of that may be holding me back.
Thank you and have a fabulous weekend.

Aloha Kellie, great post and video clip with this monkey and the peanut analogy and it is very true for most of us. We tend to hang on to old routines and experiences in life that may not be working for us. So we have this false fear to experience new ventures to make greater changes in our life and set a better path.
I’m glad I came by and as usual you share inspirational truth that most of us can learn from. Stay cool! Mahalo, Lani 🙂

Hey Kellie,
It’s mind blowing to me how some see security in a job, or think that the government is going to take care of them.
One of the main reason I choose to dive into an online business is that it can be started part time with no risk whatsoever.
And as you probably know Jim Rohn used to stress the importance of that.
thanks for the wisdom

Kellie,
What’s interesting is that this false sense of security for some people represents a defense mechanism for the things that they’re not ready to face.
It’s not to say that the majority of people are clueless to society’s conditioning. As technology changes, so does the demands of the people in every society. What was stable or ‘safe’ 50-, 30-, 10-, 5-, or even 1-year ago, may not hold the same meaning. But the basic life teachings continue to be the same and so people tend to hold on to these same beliefs.
“The writing on the wall” may be staring at them but people can’t see it because their perspective is focused on what is familiar and what they’ve been taught. You can’t see what you don’t know is possible. What we can do and what has been done for ages is become a beacon for others. You teach fundamental human principles that can possibly help others define and achieve their deepest desires and wants.
The benefits of the present technology is that it offers people lots of information that can be accessed anytime and anywhere. You can learn just about anything if you are ready. No need to feel like you’re in a vacuum or on your own to learn psychology principles, business principles, information about network marketing, or even how to cook. Ask and it shall be given to you…search and you shall find! Thanks for sharing your insight Kellie!
