Finding Your Purpose In Life – Ambition to Meaning

Your Purpose In Life

I love this movie called “Ambition To Meaning” or “The Shift” by Dr. Wayne Dyer!  He explains the concept of finding your purpose in life as he plays “himself, Wayne Dyer” in this movie, and then shows us many different characters who go through “the shift”.

Have you found your purpose in life?  Do you feel like there has got to be more to life than what you are currently doing everyday?  That’s how I felt in 1995, when I decided to take the “U-turn”, as Wayne says, a whole new road from being an employee to being an entrepreneur.
When I first started my Home Based Business, I had no clue what my purpose in life was or that there even was a purpose to my life? 🙄  All I knew was, I couldn’t miss any more precious days and years of my son’s life any longer!

Finding My Purpose

So, I did my home based network marketing business to learn how to make money while being home with my son.  Today, I understand that it was time for me to fulfill my purpose in life and “the shift” happened.  As I started to study personal growth, the question of purpose kept on coming up and I remember asking my husband “Do you know what your purpose in life is?”. 😕  It really took me several years before I understood and found my purpose in life as Dr. Wayne Dyer talks about and shows in this beautiful movie.  His original title from “Ambition To Meaning” is very true as we move from title, position, things, etc to meaning or purpose in our life.

Wayne Dyer says “Everyone wants to feel fulfilled and know that my life has made a difference; that I’ve left this place better than when I arrived.  That some one’s life has been profoundly touched because of my existence.  We all want that.”  He also wrote a book called “The Shift” which has 4 chapters like the chapters of our life:

1) FROM – All Being originates in non-being.  Where we came from before we came here to Earth.  Wayne says we came from “No Where” to “Now Here”, from spirit to form.

2) AMBITION – In this chapter of our life, we are ambitious and we take on the EGO (Edge God Out).  We take on a false self, a personality that thinks I am what I do, what I have, and what people think of me.  I believe I am separate from everybody else.

3) TO – We begin to make a U-turn (the Shift).  We will all return to the place which we originate from but we don’t have to die in order to fulfill our destiny of being a spiritual being.

4) MEANING – We only find meaning when we let go of the ego and return to our source.  We allow our self to fulfill the destiny we signed for, which is inherent in all of our lives.  Wayne says “If you want to find your true purpose in life, know this for certain: Your purpose will only be found in the service to others, and in being connected to something far greater than your body/mind/ego. Just focus on how to make life better for others.”  Put your attention on “How may I serve”, live life in meaning.  We are all connected to an energy that is taking care of everything.  Surrender to something that is bigger than you, that you are connected to.

Here’s a short video on the movie:
Einstein said “All I really want to do is Learn to think like God (source) thinks”. According to A Course of Miracles, Jesus said “If you want to be like me knowing that we are alike, I will help you.  If you want to be different than me, I will wait until you change your mind, and, you will change your mind”.  Here’s the good news …you’re only a thought away from changing your life! 😆

Beautiful words here. I had never heard it called a U-Turn before, but it makes total sense.

We are all connected to an energy that is taking care of everything. Surrender to something that is bigger than you, that you are connected to.

As someone who has only just distilled and formulated her purpose in life, I can honestly affirm that is DOES make a difference, and the shift can be both terrifying and exhilarating.
We are indeed only a thought away from a ‘new’ life ~ won’t it be delicious when the whole world makes that Shift?!
Bliss, blessings and thanks for another great share 🙂

  13. Janette Stoll Says:

    Hi Kellie,

You’re definitely right on about making the shift and finding your purpose. Too many people replay their past experiences over and over and stay in the status quo. Change is hard because we all fear loss rather than what can be gained if we make a shift, a change.

Thanks for sharing such inspirational words.

  15. Shannon Tecson Says:

    Hi Kellie,
Yet another beautiful post…Thank you so much for sharing. I often think about how much of my previous life has brought me here today. I think of how I used my strengths to excel in everything I did. From previous jobs I held working with people. I discovered in those jobs that I loved people. Today I realize that that was all preparation for me. For me to use my ambitions to have meaning in my life. Now I find myself contributing on a much larger scale. More than I would have ever been able to contribute being a bartender or retail manager. Today I change people’s lives. I relate to being No Where to Now Here. That’s where was my life was no where. Funny today but not back then. Today I do have meaning, I believe I am of service to others…everyday and I do believe I am connected to something greater than just mind/body/ego.
    What a great discovery!

    Love you much,
    Shannon 😀

Thanks for sharing this with us, Kellie! I like the quote, “Everyone wants to feel fulfilled and know that my life has made a difference; that I’ve left this place better than when I arrived.” It doesn’t have to be something that thousands of people recognize – one person at a time, we can listen, care, smile, uplift – little things count!

  20. Debra Agoo Says:

Mahalo Kellie for introducing Wayne Dyer’s works to me early on. I reasonate with what he says about moving into our “meaning” phase of life ~ not as losing our ambitions, but having ambition for other things. After I left my nearly 15-year career, I floundered for a while, feeling like I lost my identity and my ambition. But knowing what mattered most to me in life and finding meaning and purpose in serving others has given me more fulfillment and joy than I could ever imagine. Seeing the difference it has made in my children makes it even more worthwhile!
    Love,
    Debs

  21. Tim Villard Says:

This is very motivating Kellie Hosaka. If you don’t find your purpose in life then people will keep doing the same thing. If I keep doing what what I’m doing I will have no time for my newly born son. Very encouraging and I syndicated this page.

I am searching for this movie “Ambition to Meaning” or “The Shift” and I am going to download it and after downloading I am going to watch it. For me, the purpose in your life depends on your action and in your decisions. You are responsible for your action and you will need to accept what you choose for. I am excited to watch this movie and I am going to invite some of my friends to watch this movie.
